A Modern STEM Lab Opened for Students in Kryvyi Rih

On October 10, a new technological space — a STEM laboratory for the “Technology” course — was officially opened at one of Kryvyi Rih’s lyceums.

The initiative was implemented within the framework of the project “KRYTSIA: Support for Recovery of Kryvyi Rih Raion,” jointly implemented by PROMAN and Lux-Development (LuxDev, Luxembourg) with funding from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

A space for hands-on STEM learning

The new lab offers students a practical environment to explore cutting-edge technologies — from IT tools and 3D printing to robotics and engineering design.
Students in grades 9–11 can now develop engineering thinking, create their own projects, and prepare for careers of the future.

The lab is fully integrated into the curriculum as a dedicated classroom for “Technology.” It will serve up to 350 students weekly, increasing the share of hands-on learning from 20% to over 60%, in line with global education standards.

Modern infrastructure and equipment

Before installation, the space underwent a full renovation: new flooring and ceiling, antistatic coating, ventilation, air conditioning, LED lighting, multimedia equipment, and accessible design.

Equipment worth almost UAH 900,000 was procured, including:

  • modern computers and monitors;
  • 32 Arduino learning kits;
  • driving simulator equipment;
  • a 6 kW hybrid solar inverter with battery;
  • professional photo and audio tools for learning and presentations.

The lab will host regular classes, clubs, STEM festivals, and hackathons.

Investing in the region’s future

The opening of this STEM lab is part of our broader effort to rebuild and modernize education in the Kryvyi Rih Raion.
We are creating STEM classrooms, digital ‘Beehives,’ sensory rooms for inclusive education, upgrading shelters, and providing IT and backup power equipment.
In this way, Luxembourg not only supports recovery but also invests in the region’s human capital and future economy
,” said Hennadii Rusanov, Project Manager of KRYTSIA.

This STEM lab marks another important step in building an innovative educational environment that empowers young people with skills for the future.

More than 74% of our students are interested in engineering, robotics, and programming. This lab allows us to meet their educational needs and give them access to quality, modern education
