New Training Workshop for Renewable Energy Specialists Opens in Kryvyi Rih

A new training and production workshop for the installation and maintenance of renewable energy systems has officially opened at the Interregional Center for Professional Retraining in Kryvyi Rih.

The workshop was established with support from the project KRYTSIA: Support for Recovery of Kryvyi Rih Raion, funded by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency, in partnership with Proman and NDI.

The new educational facility is part of the modernization of vocational education in the region and aims to prepare specialists for professions that are increasingly in demand across Ukraine’s energy sector and labor market. The workshop provides hands-on training in modern energy generation, storage, and management systems, helping learners acquire practical skills needed for the country’s energy transition and recovery.

The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art training and production equipment, including solar energy training systems, energy storage technologies, heat pumps, and solar thermal systems. A rooftop solar power plant with 28 photovoltaic panels and a capacity of up to 15 kW has also been installed to provide real-world training opportunities. In addition, the workshop features an interactive learning panel, modern laptops, a 3D printer, and a 3D scanner.

The new workshop is expected to train around 60 specialists annually through initial vocational programs, while providing retraining and professional development opportunities for up to 300 additional participants each year. It will create new employment opportunities for local residents, including veterans, internally displaced persons, and adults seeking to acquire new skills.

“Recent years have demonstrated that decentralized and distributed energy generation is the only sustainable alternative for Ukraine. This approach reduces risks and strengthens the resilience of local communities. KRYTSIA, funded by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, is proud to have contributed to the creation of this workshop. It is not only an investment in green energy but also in new employment opportunities for adults, veterans, and internally displaced persons,” said Hennadii Rusanov, Team Leader of the project KRYTSIA: Support for Recovery of Kryvyi Rih Raion.

The Director of the Interregional Center for Professional Retraining emphasized that the workshop represents an important milestone for the institution and for the development of a skilled workforce in the region.

“For our Center, the establishment of this workshop is a strategic opportunity to enter a new segment of the educational services market and strengthen our position as an innovative institution. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, LuxDev and Proman, as well as the city authorities and the entire KRYTSIA project team for their invaluable support. Thanks to your trust, we now have a modern technical and educational facility that will help our graduates secure employment, as every new energy installation requires qualified specialists for installation and maintenance. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this workshop a reality.”

Note: The workshop has also been designed to accommodate learners with special educational needs through its ground-floor location and inclusive equipment.
